The Charlotte Jazz Fest is back! This is the 3rd annual Jazz Fest and is being hosted at Time Warner Cable Ampitheather at the NC Music Factory. This is going to be a blast! It is June 22nd and 23rd and tickets are $5 right now with a special promotion on the website. If you love theater but this economy has you strapped for cash, check out The Charlotte Shakespeare Festival! The current show that the group is working on is The Tempest by William Shakespeare at The Green Uptown in Charlotte, NC. This is a free presentation of this wonderful play, but I highly encourage donations so that we can keep seeing this wonderful acting group perform! Every kid had dreams of being some kind of superhero, whether it be batman, a police officer, or a fire fighter. The dream still lives inside of us and we would all love to do what we wanted to be as a child. Hero Rush gives you that chance to experience your childhood dream. This is an intense 5k+ obstacle course which is not only fun, but a great exercise. If you take it upon yourself to accept this challenge, you should train for it! The Coca-Cola 600 is this weekend, get ready for fast cars and good times! Accompanying the Coca-Cola 600 is the Speed Street Festival, which is a great way to kick off the weekend and get ready for Sunday! This Sunday, which is Memorial Day, The US National Whitewater Center is holding an event with live music and fireworks! The performing artists will be: Chasing Edison, The Black Lillies, and OTIS TAYLOR! That’s right, Otis Taylor, the great blues musician from Chicago is going to be performing at the Whitewater Center. What’s the best part? Admission is FREE not only do people love music, but they love it when its live and free. Congratulations to Cannon School for winning the Remax Hot Air Balloon event! It was a blast for the students and their parents to see the hot air balloon rise with family and friends! The contest was won by a fifth grader who made a terrific video on the history of hot air balloons. Here is a video of the event

As the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race flew by (no pun intended) this past weekend, NASCAR fans are still excited for the 600 Festival this weekend. The 600 Festival is more commonly referred to as Speed Street, on account of it is a NASCAR event. This is one of Charlotte’s biggest events because you don’t just have to love NASCAR, there will be multiple stages with country music stars like Justin Moore and Easton Corbin performing. There are concessions with all sorts of foods and drinks available, and of course you can venture off and experience some of Charlotte’s dining because Speed Street is conveniently located in Uptown Charlotte. There is no age restriction and admission is free so work hard this week so you can play harder this weekend!
